2008 MIAC Women’s Soccer Awards

St. Paul, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the 2008 MIAC Women’s Soccer Awards today, November 17, 2008. Leading the 20-player All-Conference team is St. Thomas junior forward Erin Sprangers who was named the 2008 MIAC Player of the Year. Sprangers helped the Tommies to the MIAC Regular Season title while leading the conference in goals (9), assists (5), and points (23).
St. Thomas head coach Sheila McGill was named the MIAC Coach of the Year in her second season leading the Tommies. St. Thomas finished 9-0-2 in conference play winning their first outright MIAC crown since 1987.
As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC announced the third annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for women’s soccer. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
