Donny Gramenz

The Minnesota Thunder will announce  that Don Gramenz has accepted the job as head coach of the team. Gramenz had taken over as interim coach last July after Amos Magee stepped down. He was an assistant coach to Amos for the 2008 season. Gramenz compiled a 7-4-4 record with the Thunder, including an exciting 4-3 home playoff win against Vancouver in the last game of the year at the National Sports Center.

Donny Gramenz sat down with Inside Minnesota Soccer and talked about his beginnings in soccer and 13 years as a player with the Thunder. He shares his coaching philosophy and how it parallels teaching. He gives us his Minnesota Thunder Christmas wish list for strengthening the 2009 team. Lastly, Gramenz walks us through the current Thunder roster player by player explaining who is under contract and who is not – several players have retired or moved and Gramenz is pursuing a few additional players.

Hopefully he can attract better players to the squad and have a better season next year.
