New MLS Cup Trophy is now actually a cup

Please join some of my friends and me as we meet at the Sweetwater Bar & Grille at the Kelly Inn in Saint Paul, to watch the MLS Cup Final which will be held Sunday, November 23rd, at 2:30 CST. The Sweetwater is my pick for best soccer bar in town.

Your pick? I’m going Columbus. How can you not unless you’re a Red Bulls fan, and I’m not sure there are even a whole lot of those in New York. The Red Bulls do seem to have luck running on their side presently. It’s a shame that Real Salt Lake didn’t get into the final. I think they deserved it but it is what it is and New York isn’t a bad team. They’ve just been a bit lucky at the right times and who knows, they could give Columbus a run for their money. But again, Columbus would have to be the team to beat. They are just too strong this season and man, do I like watching Guillermo Barros Schelotto, my MLS player of the year pick.

So come on down to the Sweetwater and see who the winner is and watch the NEW MLS Cup be presented (the old one wasn’t actually a cup) to either New York or Columbus. As I always say about the Sweetwater, there’s not a bad seat in the house, with HD TVs everywhere and an owner who is a soccer fanatico himself. I’m sure they will be offering their 2 for 1 tap beers also, a regular occurrence when we have soccer watch parties there.  Their food is reasonably priced and there’s free parking. The Sweetwater is right off I-94 in St. Paul at the Marion St. exit.
