NSCAA honors 4 Men from MIAC with Scholar Awards

St. Paul, Minn. -1/2/2009 — Four Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men’s soccer student-athletes have been honored with scholar awards by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Three student-athletes from the MIAC were named to the 2008 NSCAA/adidas College Division Scholar All-America Team. Augsburg College junior defender Alex Hildebrandt (St. Paul, Minn., Finance major, 3.85 GPA) was selected for the Scholar All-America First Team. Carleton College teammates junior midfielder Ross Hamilton (Western Springs, Ill., Chemistry major, 3.78 GPA) and senior forward Bobby Phillips (Vadnais Heights, Minn., Economics major, 3.65 GPA) were chosen from the second team.

The trio of Hildebrandt, Hamilton, and Phillips were also named to the NSCAA/adidas All-North/Central Region First Team. Concordia College senior forward Justin Foss (Fargo, N.D., Psychology major, 3.58 GPA) was an honorable mention Scholar All-Region selection.
