Inside the Nike Bootroom
2009 January 5
I was so impressed with this video that I had to share it with you. There are still craftsmen out there in many different fields. In this case, the shoemaker, a trade that has been around for oh so long. A twist on the old cobbler, as these shoe-smiths create, from scratch, customized boots for some of the athletes that we soccer fans most admire. How cool would it be to have your own custom soccer shoes, made from scratch, by hand, down to the smallest details? Thanks to the Original Winger for noting this one.

That is really cool, bq.
I have a team mate, who’s friend worked for Nike in their soccer shoe design department, and would get the sized 9 shoes sent to him … I remember the first Total 90 that was done for Edgar Davids … unfortunately for Jon, he wore a 10, so his best friend got all the best boots. His friend has since moved to Puma, where his designs, have just begun to hit the pitch in the last year or so.
What a cool job, to design and craft boots for these amazing atheletes.
Peace and futbol to you and all the readers of IMS in 2009.
Great story Neal. Hmmm, I wear 9 1/2′s. Perhaps I could squeeze into one of those 9′s.
