The 2009 MLS SuperDraft will take place on Thursday in St. Louis (1 p.m. CST, on ESPN2). The expansion Seattle Sounders will have the first pick in the draft.

Ives Galarcep (Soccer by Ives) and Buzz Carrick (The 3rd Degree) have given us their thorough analysis of things at ESPN Soccernet.

Galarcep:

Assessing the first two days of the MLS combine

Rating the Generation Adidas class

Carrick:

Ranking the top 10 senior forwards
Carrick says Tosaint Ricketts, Wisconsin Green Bay ranks #10. Ricketts is 6-feet, 175 pounds, has been one of the top scorers for Green Bay for four seasons now and was named First Team All-Horizon League the last two years.

Ranking the top 10 senior midfielders
Carrick ranks our own Minnesotan, Andrei Gotsmanov, Creighton, as the #3 prospect in the country. He goes on to say, “The Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and a first-team All-American, Gotsmanov led the Bluejays with 10 goals. Gotsmanov is the best pure attacking talent on the midfielder board at this stage, yet questions have been raised about his pace and athleticism.”

Ranking the top 10 senior defenders
Carrick ranks Calum Angus, of St. Louis, the #1 prospect.

Ranking the top 10 senior goalkeepers
#1 ranked Stefan Frei, California, a 6-foot-3, redshirt junior is a two-time All-American and has been named to the first team of the All-Pac-10 squad twice. A native of Switzerland who moved to the U.S. at age 15, Frei has become a leader on the field for the Bears.
