38 PDL players taken in MLS draft

Does playing in the Premier Development League (PDL) in USL make a difference in your chances of moving to the next level of soccer in the US? I’ve been saying it does for awhile. I’m excited that the Minnesota Thunder and Rochester-area businessman Dan Penz have brought a PDL team to the state.
According to USL.com, 38 of the 60 draft choices in Thursday’s MLS Superdraft, (63%) had some PDL experience. USL.com has a nice pdf chart at the end of the article showing all 60 draft picks and the USL – PDL experience.
Bringing a PDL team to Minnesota will allow our more talented players in the state the chance to play at a high level in the summer, therefore exposing them to more opportunities in the future. This is just one more step to getting Minnesota soccer players back on the national radar.
