WPS unveils new uniforms

playersunveil555The Women’s Professional Soccer league revealed their uniforms tonight at a party in New York City. Each team had two representatives, one wearing the home kit and the other an away kit. The uniforms looked good and may I say a lot better than some of the clunkers that both the old NASL and the first year MLS came up with. Who can forget the fringe on the NASL’s Denver Caribous, or the Kansas City Wizards with those rainbow stripes?

With the WPS, the worst we have to contend with is the ‘skort.” Now I don’t mind the skort, and it seems to work pretty well in tennis, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to women playing soccer in skorts. On the other hand, my girlfriend loved the uniform. She said it was cute. OK, well…maybe. For those of you who are not familiar with a skort, here’s what it looks like.

My favorite was definitely the Chicago Red Stars. Traditional and yet classy.

Here’s a slide show of all the uniforms. What do you think?

Agreed, the Red Stars have the best uniform.

Save the skirts for tennis and lacrosse!

Rest easier: Skorts apparently won’t be worn during games
