Minnesota Thunder report for team meeting today with 1st training session tomorrow
The Minnesota Thunder will have their first team meeting tonight with all rostered players required to be in attendance.
On Friday, the team will gather for their first official practice which will be held at 9:30 am at the National Sports Center in Blaine. I plan on attending and will hopefully get some photos and conduct a few interviews.
The team then departs Saturday morning for Cedar Rapids, Iowa for two scrimmages against the Kansas City Wizards of MLS. Those games are at 5:30 and 7:00 pm on the 14th. I know of a number of Thunder supporters who will be making that 4 hour trip.
The Thunder have Sunday off and then will be doing 2-a-days with a Scrimmage at Shattuck St. Mary’s on the following Saturday, the 21st of March.
On another Thunder note: John Hackworth of the United States Soccer Federation and who runs the USSF Developmental Academies is in the Twin Cities today, meeting with members of the Minnesota Thunder Academy. He will meet with staff from Shattuck-St. Mary’s, tomorrow. Could this be the final step for the two clubs in getting approval for U-16 and U-18 Developmental Academy teams? If so, this is something that has been in the works since the creation of MTA?
