Leo Gibson transfered to Cleveland City Stars
The Minnesota Thunder Announced today that Leo Gibson has been transferred to the Cleveland City Stars for an undisclosed transfer fee. Gibson will join former Thunder teammate and captain Godfrey Tenoff at the club.
Gibson spent 3 seasons with the Thunder and played 48 regular season games, logging nine goals and five assists. The Monrovia, Liberia native was also well known for the many charitable organizations he helped and was very committed to his church and other Christian organizations.
I would personally like to thank Leo Gibson for helping Twin Cites writer Paul Demko, Thunder play by play announcer Chris Lidholm and I put on the first ever Nothing But Nets Twin Cities Benefit last September. Leo contributed numerous items and helped me to attain an interview with internationally famous Barcelona striker Samuael Eto’o. This interview also helped to acquire a Puma signed Eto’o ball which was auctioned off in the silent auction to benefit Nothing But Nets.
Leo has spent the last two off seasons with the Detroit Ignition of the Xtreme Soccer League.
A big thank you to Leo for being a great human being and an excellent soccer player.
