USLsoccer.com gets a facelift

Sometime during the wee morning hours, USLsoccer.com launched a new website. The features of the site look to be pretty much the same as the old site, the difference just seems to be with the look. I like the interactive push-pin map of all the USL teams but I don’t like that I can no longer go to the USL Second Division tab, click on teams and get a list of those teams. I just get the push-pin map again. I’ll have to leave comments on the rest until later.

What do you think?

Weird… When you go to http://www.uslsoccer.com it’s the old site, but when you click on any of the tabs it goes to the new design. Looks nicer..

You’re right, updated graphics on the same old, weak and thin site content. It’s not terrible, I guess. They should have spent the time & money making the site *better* instead of prettier.

For example, click on “shop”, and you get directions for requesting a media guide (via snail-mail, no less). They’re not going to sell much USL or Umbro merch that way! Similarly, click on “events”, and you get (in a new window, yay) info on a *single* event. That happened last November.

And they’ve added a splash screen, if you go directly to uslsoccer.com. I mean, really? What year is this?

I’ll be the first to grant you that good website design is a lot harder than it looks. But this is the site for the whole league. It should be really professional and solid. As it stands, it’s yet another reminder that this isn’t the Major Soccer League in this country.

I’m with Chris – I never had a problem with the layout of the old site. I did, however, have a problem with the content (or lack thereof). I’d rather have seen them throw money at that, then redesigning the site for no real reason.

VB, either something got changed or your browser cache needs refreshing because I’m getting a splash page that leads you into the new web page.

The new site is a little better, but it needs to be much better. I do not believe that this should be that difficult to comprehend. Chris is correct, good website design is not easy, but it is a little distressing that the Blue Square Premier site is considerably more attractive with much better content.

    Super Rookie -

Thanks. I think exceeding the standard set by non-league football should be a basic goal.
