Rochester Thunder Beat Colorado Foxes 1-0 in Inaugural Home Opener

The Rochester Thunder won their inaugural home opener Friday evening, defeating Real Colorado Foxes 1-0.
The hard-fought affair was a historical first win for the PDL team. Brian Pederson had the chance to be the hero yet again for the team when a penalty kick was given to the Thunder in the 31st minute. Pederson stepped up to take the kick but unlike the previous two games were he sunk both shots, Pederson missed the PK.
Rochester Thunder coach Neil Cassidy had to be feeling good about his choice of substitutions. In the 68th minute Cassidy called on Gustavo Diaz to enter the game and no less than 5 minutes later Diaz rewarded Cassidy for his decision by scoring the lone goal of the game.
Rochester outshot Colorado 19-11. Fouls were even at 10 a piece. Rochester also dominated in corners 5-1. Heath-Preston and Takada picked up yellow cards for the Thunder; Donaldson received a yellow card for Colorado.
Frank Spaeth who is Business Director for the team said the paid attendance was 403, but with the Rochester Youth Soccer Association players who took advantage of free attendance for last nights game, the total attendance was approximated to be near 600.
