Final Weekend of May offers Full Slate of Soccer in Minnesota

It’s a big weekend of soccer in Minnesota for footy fanatics.

Minnesota Lightning

Friday – Minnesota Lightning
The weekend kicks off tonight with the Minnesota Lightning’s first game and first home game of the year. The Lightning take on FC Indiana at the National Sports Center with a 7:05 kick off.

Saturday-State Cup Finals

mn_state_cupSaturday sees the MYSA State Cup Finals for ages U-13 through U-17 in both the boys and girls sides. All games will take place at the Coon Rapids Sports Complex and a schedule of games can be found here by going to each specific age group and gender’s pdf file. Once the PDF is open, scroll down and look for the Championship Game.

Sunday – Rochester Thunder PDL – Minnesota Lightning -  Minnesota Thunder
Sunday sees a full day of soccer.Minnesota Lightning

The Minnesota Lightning will kick things off with a game against the West Michigan Firewomen at the National Sports Center. The game starts at 2:30 and is a double header with the Minnesota Thunder.

Minnesota Thunder***

The Thunder will take the field for a 5:05 start against the Puerto Rico Islanders. The Islanders were a 2009 CONCACAF Champions League semi-finalist and 2008 USL-1 League Winner and runner up in the Championship game.

The Rochester Thunder PDL team plays another home game as they take on the St. Louis Lions at RCTC with a 7:00 start. This will be the second meeting of the year for these two teams.
