What a difference a win makes. After Minnesota’s 2-0 victory over the Carolina RailHawks on Sunday, two Minnesota players were selected for the USL-1 Week #10, Team Of The week.  This marks the first time this season that 2 Thunder players have received the honor in the same week. On top of that, forward Brian Cvilikas earned himself USL-1 Player of the week honors.

civilikasCvilikas’ brace last Tuesday in the US Open cup and again on Sunday against Carolina, gained him the honor. Thunder coach Don Gramenz said that Cvilikas is standing out because he’s working hard and is asking for the ball. “He’s playing with a lot more confidence,” said Gramenz. He went on to say that earlier in the season Cvilikas just wasn’t playing with belief in himself like he is now.

Goalkeeper Nic Platter collects the award and for the second time in 2 weeks. Platter stopped 7 shots gaining the shutout against the RailHawks.

Minnesota has had three other USL-1 first teamers this year. Jon Greenfield, Ricardo Sanchez and Nic Platter have all received the honor previously in the 2009 season.
