The Fulham Review 2008/09
My friend Rich Allen from across the pond in England and living in West London has done it again. Rich is a brilliant writer and truly deserves to be earning a living doing what he loves to do so much. Rich is the writer/editor of Craven Cottage Newsround, a site that I was graciously associated with for about a year’s time. Craven Cottage Newsround is a Fulham Football Club fan web site but really, it’s much more than that. As stated, Rich comes up with some brilliant writing, some of which he’s done for the Times of London!
Rich was up for Football Blog of the year once again this year and he deservedly took the prize this time around.
Rich is offering up once again his Fulham Review, this year for the 2008/09 season. This is the third year running of the Fulham Review. He has sold out of last year’s edition. I have one and I’m not giving it up. In fact I now have years 1 & 2 and wouldn’t be without year 3. They truly are becoming collector’s editions.
If you are a Fulham fan or even a Clint Dempsey supporter, you need to order one of these books. There is a match report from every game and a load of essays from fans. This year’s book has 112 pages and here is what’s inside:
- Match reports featuring teams, attendance, etc.
- Chopper’s Departing Heroes, a terrific annual feature where Dave Harris of the Hammy End Chronicle reviews the careers of all players leaving the club.
- American journalist Adam Spangler’s (of This is American Soccer) 17 page special on Clint Dempsey. Adam spent a couple of days with Clint a while back and wrote up his story. Amazing stuff.
- A few pages of stats from Colin at Championship at Best – cutting edge stuff from an American who love statistics.
- The Times Top 50 Fulham Players of all time feature Allen wrote this past spring.
- Various other essays from Dan Crawford, Rob Griffin and Rich Allen.
- And a few of Ormondroyd’s photos.
