Rochester Thunder Back in Action at Home this Weekend!
Rochester Thunder with only one more home game after this weekend
The Rochester Thunder soccer team will be back in action, with two matches at home this weekend. The Thunder is currently fourth in the PDL’s Heartland Division, and a pair of wins this weekend would take them within one point of a playoff spot.
On Friday night, the Thunder will take on the Springfield Demize with revenge on their minds. Two weekends ago, the Thunder traveled to Missouri and was defeated by the Demize 1-0 in a match that Thunder head coach Neil Cassidy described as one of their worst of the season. Springfield is currently at the bottom of the PDL’s Heartland Division with a 2-7-1 record.
On Sunday night, the Des Moines Menace brings its undefeated record into the RCTC Stadium field. The Thunder played the Menace in the Thunder’s first-ever match, played in Des Moines. The match ended in a 2-1 win for the Menace, thanks to a late penalty kick conversion. Des Moines are currently second in the division and, with a 5-0-4 record, they have yet to taste defeat this season.
“These are some big games for us,” said Thunder head coach Neil Cassidy. “After this weekend, we’ll only have one more home match, so it is important for us to play well on our home field and get some positive results.”
Both of the weekend’s matches will be played at the Stadium field at Rochester Technical & Community College in Rochester. Game time both Friday and Sunday is 7 pm.
