About the Thunder (3-8-5; 14 pts.):
The Thunder have finally relinquished their position at the bottom of the USL First Division and have moved up a spot in the USL First Division rankings. This is credited for the six consecutive points that the Thunder earned in the past two games. Minnesota also beat C.S.D. Comunicaciones yesterday 2-0. The Thunder are on a three-game winning streak.
Minnesota won their fourth game of the season last Saturday by topping C.S.D. Comunicaciones 2-0. The Thunder kicked off the match with a fourth minute goal from Marco Terminesi. Dale Weiler scored an assurance goal in the 81st minute, but Minnesota’s defense held Comunicaciones scoreless.
Ricardo Sanchez and Brian Cvilikas are tied for fifth in goals scored in the USL First Division. Sanchez has played in 14 games and Cvilikas in 10, with both players having scored 4 goals each.
About the Blues (6-7-3; 21 pts.):
The Miami FC Blues are in the middle of the USL First Division, being four points behind the Rochester Rhinos, but the Vancouver Whitecaps are nipping at Miami’s heels being only three points behind. Their past three games have been a roller coaster with one win, one draw and one loss.
Miami fell to Portland 3-0 on Sunday, pushing Portland into a two-way tie for first place. Miami couldn’t get their offense to finish their attempts and their defense had a difficult time stopping the Timber’s potent offense.
