Parking Change at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium for Gopher Soccer

St. Paul, Minn. – There will be a change from years past in the parking situation for University of Minnesota soccer matches at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.  The changes will begin with the season opener on Aug. 21.

Formerly, soccer fans could park in the Spire lot, located across Cleveland Ave. to the east of the stadium.  Please note, the Spire lot is no longer available to park.

The Gibbs lot located south of the stadium is still available, as are the Driving Range and Golf Course main lots.  The Driving Range and Golf Course lots are located west of Cleveland Ave., along Larpenteur Ave.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and park in one of the three aforementioned available lots.  However, should they become full, Lot S101 is available also.  Lot S101 is located in the Northeast corner of Cleveland Ave. and Commonwealth Ave. and fans can park there for a small fee of $3.75.  There will be a shuttle transporting fans from Lot S101 to Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium prior to the match.

These parking changes will remain in effect for the entire season, unless otherwise stated.

The 2009 soccer season begins at 6:00 pm on Aug. 21 when Minnesota hosts South Dakota State University.

    How could they make the parking worse? This lots are small and fill quickly, and the traffic is moving fast if you try to park across Lex.

    It’s a beautiful stadium and horrible parking. Not a good situation but no reason to not come to the game. I’m really looking forward to tonight. Let’s hope the weather clears.

    I’m going to the game.
    I was really impressed with the coach, Mikki Denney Wright and her methods at the presentation she and the Gopher team put on at the MHSSCA clinic.

    *They play a 352 with only one holding mid, a very attacking style.
    * They have the speed and skill in the back to play it well.
    * She is always trying to get the speed of play as fast as it can be within the idea of possession play.
    * They have confidence.

    It will be interesting to see how it works this year.
    Parking is not a huge problem, but you will have to walk a bit, the paid lot will be full by the time you get there anyway.
