Teal Bunbury and Akron Still Ripping it Up
2009 November 5
Several weeks ago IMS reported on Minnesota native Teal Bunbury, who played for the Rochester Thunder PDL team this past summer and plays his fall soccer for the University of Akron.
The Zips (17-0-0) are the No. 1 team in the country in all five national polls. Bunbury scored yet again yesterday just 3:18 into the first half with a 20-yard chip shot. He has started all 17 games for Akron and now has 15 goals 3 assists with 33 points.
With Bunbury’s success this season, you will most likely see him on a short list of candidates for the 2009 Hermann Trophy.

I was listening to the Zips radio broadcast of the game against PSU last week and the announcer said that Bunbury wouldn’t be considered for this years Hermann Trophy because he is a sophomore. Is that not true (I’m not an expert of Hermann trophy eligibility)?
Nor am I and I might be wrong then. Thanks for that.
I looked at this years watch list and all the players listed are Srs and Jrs. There is another Akron player on there, Anthony Ampaipitakwong, who has also been ripping it up for AU this year:
