The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the 2009 MIAC Women’s Soccer Awards today, November 12, 2009.

Leading the All-Conference team is Concordia junior forward Sam Johnson who was named the MIAC Player of the Year for 2009. Johnson tallied a league-leading 11 goals in 11 conference games, including five game-winning goals for the league champion Cobbers.

Concordia head coach Dan Weiler, in his eighth season, was named the 2009 MIAC Coach of the Year. Weiler led the Cobbers to their third MIAC Regular Season crown in the last four seasons as they posted a 10-0-1 record in conference play.

As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC announced the fourth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for women’s soccer. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
