The 2009 NCAA Soccer Tournament -Minnesota College Soccer Update 11/15/09

ncaaHere is an update on the 9 Minnesota teams involved in the tournament this weekend.

In D-2:
Mankato State
(16-3-2) were defeated by U of M Duluth (17-2-2) in Denver, CO. at Auraria Field on Friday by a score of  2-0. Duluth now takes on Metro State (20-1-1) of Colorado today at 2:00 pm CT.

In D-3 men’s action:
Macalester
(13-7-1) defeated Grinnell (9-8-4) on Saturday at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque, IA. at Loras College (17-2-1) by a score of 2-0. Mac now takes on Loras College at 6:00 pm Sunday evening CT. The game will be Video webcast and the bracket can be found here with that link for the video.

St. Olaf (13-4-2), was defeated by Wisconsin Whitewater (11-5-3) by a score of 1-0 on Saturday and dumped from the tournament.

In D-3 women’s action:

Carleton College (10-6-5) were beaten on Friday by Wheaton College (16-4-1) by a score of 3-1 and are eliminated from the tourney.

St. Thomas (13-6-1), were also eliminated from the tournament by Wisconsin Stevens Point (16-3-1) in Rock Island, Ill. The final of that game was 1-0.

Concordia-Moorhead (17-0-2) defeated Dubuque (15-6-1) at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN at last night by a score of 2-0.

Macalester (14-5-2) beat St. Scholastica (17-4-2) by a score of 3-0.

Macalester will now take on Concordia-Moorhead at Macalester on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM with the winner moving on to the Sweet 16.

    Great info on the tourney–too bad the “mainstream” media cannot find 10 seconds to report on something soccer related. I would rather hear about college soccer than see “Perk at Play” on KARE 11.

    Strib had full schedule of D-2 and D-3 games in last Fridays scorecard.
