ncaaAnd then there was one – Concordia-Moorhead women’s soccer team is the last Minnesota team left after starting the weekend with 9.

In D-2:
The U of M Duluth Bulldogs were taken down yesterday afternoon by Metro State of Colorado by a score of 2-1. The game was delayed for 1-hour as 6 inches of snow needed to be cleared from the field in Denver, CO. Temperatures at game time were 31°. Lauren Graydon scored for the Bulldogs in the 86th minute drawing the match even and forcing the game into overtime. But Metro State found the net again just moments into the 2nd overtime to bounce the Bulldogs from the tournament. The Bulldogs finished the year with a record of 17-3-2.

In D-3 men’s action:
Macalester
were defeated by Loras College of Iowa on Sunday at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque, IA at Loras College (18-2-1) by a score of 2-0. Mac hit the crossbar early into the second half with a shot by Reid Usedom when the game was still scoreless. But Loras had the better of chances on their home field and scored two unanswered goals to defeat the Scots. The loss ended the Macalester season at 13-8-1.

In D-3 women’s action:
Concordia-Moorhead (18-0-2) defeated Macalester College (14-6-3) on Sunday evening in St. Paul, MN by a score of 3-1. No. 8-ranked Concordia, the MIAC regular-season champs, move on to the Sweet 16, where they will play next weekend against Lynchburg (Va.). The Cobbers received second half goals from Killashandra Link, Sam Johnson and Abby Habein. Goalkeeper Ali Nelson turned away eight shots on net. Concordia advances to the Round of 16 for the first time in the program’s history.
