The “New” NASL better be legit. There are many, many of us that remember a standard of the old NASL, one that exceeds the level and play in the MLS, but only became a victim of being the 5th level of major pro sports (close behind the pre- LA Kings/Gretzky NHL). The soccer, players and coaches (managers) were great great in teh NASL. The economics and lack of major network follow thru was not mature enought.

Again. lack of originality smaells of pretenders.

Also, maybe I havent seen any info from you Brian or anyone, but what is the Impact of our current “pro” soccer drama, on the top wmens team in state – the Lightning?

I just heard Pele is coming out of retirement along with Beckenbauer and the chick from Bend it Like Beckham they will play for the new NSC team The Minnesota Thunder Kicking Cosmos. The new team colors are green and orange and the fist sponsor to sign on is Wingfield corp. Unfortunately the signing of Pele has made the 80 by 30 foot jumbo scoreboard almost an impossibility. This should be interesting.

Of course you guys are all correct, but really, thinking about the word national, does it make sense? I think it’s a misuse of the word.

Not to stick up for Paul, but Puerto Rico is technically a possession of the United States, so you could use the word “National.” Also, the Montreal Expos used to play in the National League (MBL). There are also Canadian teams in the National Basketball Association.
