Every World Cup another gimmick ball. Some have been significant, most not. For $130.00, I can wait. There are plenty of really great balls you can get for $50.00 to $75.00 and for most of us, it wouldn't make any difference anyway.

fifa.com reports that Sony will "deliver 3D images from up to 25 matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa" in a film to be released following the event. Sounds exciting!

Well, I don't think anyone can argue that we got shafted on the draw. Unlucky for my Samurai Blue though.

This was the first time I ever watch a World Cup draw. Very interesting process. I am glad I was able to filter out all the festivities and just see the actual draw. Some of those people looked really bored.

I just hope the US gets the "stuff" straight. I am going to be very disappointed if our lads do not make it to the final 16.

Group A: Mexico has a chance and will likely battle with South Africa for the #2 spot in this group. I think France has the #1 spot in their hands...

Group B: Argentina seems to have a relatively easy draw and should be top dogs provided Maradonna doesn't muck it all up. Can Euro 2004 Champs Greece rise to the challenge?

Group C: As Brian said the US should advance provided they put in good performances. I think we got a good draw and should be happy with it.

Big Questions for the US: Is Jermaine Jones going to be with the team? will he be match fit? Rumor has it that C. Davies will be back to health by the WC; again match fitness?

Group D: Germany should take the group but would hardly say they are lucky. M. Essien and Ghana will be ready to compete as will Serbia, who have a strong defense.

Group E: Netherlands have a slight edge in this group but face tough competition throughout the group.

Group F: Italy's 'experience' (old age...) should get them through the group stage but will have a big hill to climb during the knockout stage.

Group G: Hands down Group of Death; loads of talent in the group. Brazil (kaka, luis fabiano, etc), Ivory Coast (Drogba, Toure bros), Portugal (CR7, Figo), and North Korea (well, lets just say they got an unlucky draw). Who gets left behind?

Group H: Spain shouldn't face too much competition until the knockout stage (will this hurt them?). Excited to see which team has the spirit to push through.

I agree with JM that Germany has the easiest group. However, I would love to see the Socceroos upset Deutschland!! That coupled with a repeat of 1950 with USA winning over England would do it for me!

How is Honduras lucky? Unless I missed some sarcasm there, Spain and Chile are far superior. I think Germany is the luckiest of all.
