Discussing US Soccer’s Decision Regarding 2nd Division Soccer
The usual suspects are back again, this time discussing the press statement released yesterday by US Soccer regarding the decision not to sanction any 2nd division league for the 2010 Season.
Pasion Naranja’s Kristian Vázquez, The Katirk Report and SPA’s Kartik Krishnaiyer, and yours truly discuss with Set Piece Analysts host Richard Farley the ins and outs of US Soccer’s press release. If you want to get caught up to speed on this ongoing situation and the possible decisions behind USSF, NASL and USL, please listen to this SPA recording.

Richard Farley pretty much spent all of yesterday talking to folks who have a pretty good handle on this situation. You can also go here to hear his conversations yesterday with Brian Zygo, Kartik Krishnaiyer, Daniel Feuerstein, Duane Rollins, Johnathan Starling, and Kristian Vázquez.

It seems the USSF is making a big wager that the USL and NASL factions will find some aggreement. However if this doesn’t happen what can the USSF do after refusing to sanction either organization?
I was confident there will be soccer one way or another this summer, but now I just don’t know what to expect, I get the USSF’s hesitancy to make a decision, but they need to make a decision when the sides can’t agree. I don’t think they should bet that 7 more days will make a damn bit of difference.
Anyone see the recent Boston Globe article on youth player development and philosophy. Very interesting. http://bit.ly/4EutrR
Happy New Year all.
I listened to all those podcasts last night and found them very informative and with plenty of different points of views and perspectives. Excellent stuff.
PS I also really enjoyed your even keel points you raised, BQ. I woke up today with a much more optimistic outlook on the situation.
Thanks Matthew!
Thanks, Matthew.
I have been checking this site and TKR regularly to gauge how people are feeling about the USSF decision. I read your feedback and appreciated it. I tried to get a lot of different tones and regional perspectives on yesterday knowing that some of us at SPA (myself included) can be a little intense about things. That what makes Brian a great guest – that he complements us well – but also: Kristian Vásquez and Duane Rollins were great, too.
