Wait. So NSC Minnesota was officially voted as the name of the new club?

Scratch that. I guess the voting process is still on-going.

NSC Minnesota is the interim name and expect the team to continue to be called that until a formal name is assigned.

I expect the “new ” club will be out of business next year…with the high fee associated with the NASL the contributing factor. Heck with the USL fees they couldn’t make it. With the fees 10 times what they were who can expect them to make it…The tax-payers will have to invest

Steve, how did you hear about the NASL fees? Does anyone have info on that?

Several things: I would expect that the NASL cut a deal with the NSC to join their league. I don’t know this for a fact, but it is what I think may have happened.

2ndly, you might be correct, but don’t you think that the NSC, being a non-profit that has been as successful as it has, hasn’t already looked into the fees and the operating budgets of other teams and made a determination that they could afford it? This I happen to know is a fact. I would expect there will be hiccups along the way as there are for every team in startup costs. But the league fees is certainly something they have already planned for. I have said the same thing right along, that no one actually knows the fees for NASL or the business structure. However, I can tell you this, the reason so many teams fled USL was because they also had to invest a lot of money but the returns did not come to them. As several owners have told me, at least my money is going into a league where not only do I get a say, but I get a share. I think that says it all Steve.

Lastly, for the one hundred and fourteen-billionth time, tax payers will not be taking a bite on this. If the team is not solvent NSC will not continue the program, just as they have done with other programs they have handled and not broken even on. This was a recent quote from the NSC themselves. If you had been keeping up you would also know that the NSC already has some investors and is looking for more. The Montreal Impact is also a non-profit with 3 strong investors. Last I checked Steve, they are doing pretty well.
