Gopher Women’s Soccer Announces Spring Schedule
The University of Minnesota released their 2010 spring schedule today. Included in the schedule is a new 1-day tournament that will be held at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium called the Big Ten/Big 12 Spring Challenge. The tourney will take place on April 24th and will include Iowa, Iowa State and Kansas.
The Gophers were 12-5-3 overall last season, and 5-3-2 in Big Ten play just missing out on the NCAA tournament. Minnesota will return 11 starters and a total of 16 players from last season including 7 seniors.
“We challenged ourselves this year more than any other,” assistant coach Jerrod Roh said. “Coach Mikki [Denney Wright] wanted us to go out and schedule as tough of opponents as we could find. We feel like we’ve done that. We have 11 starters returning so we need to challenge this group so they can continue to grow, so we can be ready for next fall.”
