NSC Minnesota Stars Soccer Team to Name First Player Today

2010 February 12
by Brian Quarstad

The NSC Stars will issue a press release today at 11:00 am announcing their very first player signing. The team will also post a video interview on the team’s website

While I’m excited for the first signing and I appreciate the forewarning on the release, I’m not sure why the team continues to make big announcements on Fridays, the worst day of the week for press releases. It’s widely understood that Mondays are the best days and often times Friday press releases and the excitement that goes with them gets lost into Friday afternoons and the weekend. We will chalk it up to growing pains for now, but lets hope for more Monday and Wednesday releases in the future.

IMS will also have a story immediately following the release.

Game Times
NSC also announced the game times of their home games yesterday. When the original schedule was released this week, USSF made a statement in their release that said each individual team would be announcing their game times in the near future. The NSC Stars will start all games at 7 pm except the July 4th game, which will have a 7:30pm start. You can find the schedule here. Team general manager Kris Bjerkness told IMS yesterday that the team was concerned with consistency of game times therefore going with a general 7 pm start.

Vote for Your Favorite Jersey Color!
By the way, if you’ve not seen it or received an email from the NSC, they are having a contest to see what color the team’s kits should be. You can go here and vote for the your favorite color. I have to admit, I sort of like the Sunshine. It’s unique and it sort of reminds me of the Swedish National team colors, and I’m not even Swedish.

From the Pure Speculation Department, my bet is on Nic Platter. Build from the back!

Personally I like the New Navy color myself.

BQ – I’m confused – the article is about a player signing and says nothing about an Asst Coach?

You should be confused. Why you ask? Because I was confused. I posted this to something CL had made a comment on in another post. I placed my comment in the wrong place. When I read Parkview_Josh’s comments thinking it was a continuation of the other conversation. Wow, dazed and confused. Thanks for getting me straightened out on this. Comment deleted.

I like the sunshine too. Voted for it a few days ago. Unique…

Probably won’t be selling too many of those though.

I hope the sunshine wins. Off the top of my head, there aren’t any others in D2. None even close now that Charleston are down in D3. Though there are a couple oranges.

I’m no color expert, but yellow is horrible with white/pink skin. On the other hand, the blue and navy work look much more pleasing on the field. Yellow could be a good alternate kit color, but the home jersey should be blue or navy.

“yellow is horrible with white/pink skin” Seriously? In who’s opinion? Beside, I’m not exactly looking at skin tone and complexion color when my team is on the field and in a battle to win the game. 🙂

And it’ll look pretty good on Johnny.;)

I don’t think you can find a color that looks good on everyone.

When I was visiting my dad in Lagos in ’86, I loved looking at all the beautiful cloth in the markets. Then I looked at all the people wearing such wonderful, colorful clothes. And realized that nearly all of them would look like utter crap with my pasty white skin.

Yellow seems fine elsewhere, as noted by both players in the picture linked below for “A-League match between the Wellington Phoenix and the Central Coast Mariners at Westpac Stadium on February 12, 2010 in Wellington, New Zealand”:
