NSC Stars Uniform Colors Decided

This past week, the NSC Minnesota Stars soccer team conducted a poll on their site for you the fan to chose the uniform colors for the team. The votes are in and you’ve decided.

The Stars Facebook page announced on Friday afternoon that the home color of the team uniforms will be the Cobalt (blue), away jerseys will be Sunshine (yellow).

Overall, they seem like good choices. I’m hearing a lot of feedback from discussion boards, IMS comments and emails I’m receiving that there is a hope that the team will go with something more unique than the standard uniforms that come from most manufacturers.

Puma seemed to be the manufacturing name that was thrown about by many because of the NSC’s relationship with the German sportswear manufacturer for Schawn’s USA Cup. However, team GM Kris Bjerkness told IMS in an interview last Wednesday evening that they are still working out the details for a kit sponsor and oftentimes sports companies like Puma, Nike, Adidas and others don’t tie themselves in to sponsoring a whole facility.  “We don’t exclusively work with just Puma,” said Bjerkness. “In the apparel business they try to tie themselves to specific teams and events. They don’t tie themselves into one facility.”

It will be interesting to see the new jersey once they decide on it along with the new sleeve patch of the USSF Division II. Most likely this will be the only year that the USSF sanctions Division II so that in itself should make the jersey a (sort-of) collector’s item along with the fact that it’s the  team’s very first kit.

A bit of personal commentary here: I always thought the USL logo looks like a rec youth soccer patch, not a pro sports league.

A comment to NSC Minnesota: There are a lot of us who are no longer soccer players or never were and don’t fit into the European size large. Make sure to order some XL’s and some 2-XL’s for purchase. This always seemed to be a yearly problem with the the former pro team here.

Safe choices and no suprise the colors are a close match to the logo colors. Brand identity 101.

Hey, I was a medium when I was your age sonny! I’ve seen you play. I didn’t have your speed but I had the touch and shot. :)

Jeff, damn right it’s the hot nuts and beer gardens. It’s also the long cold winters.

I hope they do 2XL jerseys. Would look amazing in my soccer jersey collection of the three that I own so far.
