Nic Platter Selling Thunder Gear for Grassroots Soccer

by Brian Quarstad

Former Minnesota Thunder goalkeeper Nic Platter announced this week that he will not be playing in Minnesota for the 2010 season. As he prepares to move he is looking to offload some of his old Thunder gear and you could be the recipient of that gear for a donation to Grassroots Soccer.

Grassroots Soccer is an organization that uses soccer to teach youth in Africa about the reality of AIDS. Founded by former professional soccer players in 2002, Grassroots Soccer (GRS) trains African soccer stars, coaches, teachers, and peer educators in the world’s most HIV-affected countries to deliver an interactive HIV prevention and life skills curriculum to youth.

Nic says he’s got some great stuff that he thinks someone would enjoy. He is asking a $5 minimum donation per item so he can send the proceeds to his friends at Grassroots who he has worked with previously.

I’m hoping IMS readers can do better than the minimum $5.00 to help out a great cause and to remember one the Thunder’s best all time goalkeepers.

How do we get the stuff if we donate? I’m eyeing up one of the long sleeve training tops.
