The National Sports Center will announce the signing of Kyle Altman this week. NSC officials have verified that Altman has signed a contract with the club for 2010.

The Albuquerque, New Mexico native played Division III college soccer at Trinity University.  Altman was drafted by the New England Revolution in the 2008 MLS Supplemental draft but was waived days later. Altman than signed with the Thunder for the 2008 season.

Former Thunder head coach Amos Magee first saw Altman play at the Pan-American Maccabi games held in 2007 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“Kyle has been on our wish list since day one of the Maccabi USA training camp,” said Magee in 2008 after signing the midfielder. “He’s an exceptional passer, very good in the air, and is fearless in a tackle. He is a versatile player that will bring outstanding ability and depth to our team this season.”

Altman saw action in 15 games for the Thunder in 2008 but did not play professional soccer in 2009.

IMS will have more on Altman later in the week.

National Sports Center Media Director Barclay Kruse told IMS on Monday that the team hopes to announce the entire coaching staff by midweek.
