In a press conference held on Saturday afternoon, MLS Commissioner Don Garber announced that a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the players union had been reached. The agreement is a 5-year deal.

The initial changes that were announced were:

-Better player compensation.
-The ability for players to move more freely within and away from the league.
-Increased opportunities for players union and management to work together.

More details to come when they are available.

    This is really splendid news.

On a selfish note, maybe we can get some loan players now.

Good news indeed – glad to see guaranteed contracts and what appears to be some degree of free agency for the players

Glad to see the owners finally decided to do right by the players, glad the players didn’t get greedy, and even happier that there will be a season.

A strike would’ve been catastrophic. The owners had some valid arguments, but truth be told I was siding with the players from the start. These are really basic rights the players are asking for, and I can totally understand the frustration that they felt. At any rate, I hope both sides walked away from the table feeling ok with the new CBA.

BTW, RBNY 3, Santos 1. Only saw the end of the game but Santos looked pretty frustrated. Not a bad way to celebrate the new deal…

That’s a load off my mind.

BTW, is there some kind of award somebody can nominate pitchinvasion.com for? Their commentary and coverage of the CBA stuff has been the best.
