by Brian Quarstad

This Saturday, March 27, the Stars will play the Marquette University Golden Eagles at 3 p.m. at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis. Admission to the game is free.

Coaches Louis Bennett and Stan Anderson bring their Division I college team to the Twin Cities to be tested against the new USSF D-II expansion team NSC Minnesota Stars.

The National Sports Center would like you to know that the City of Minneapolis Park board has agreed not to charge parking for this event. The lot near Parade stadium is a pay parking lot with a pay station machine, but the city WILL NOT enforce paid parking during the games this Saturday.

Any truth to the rumors of 200 people at a pre-season scrimmage? Are the non-beleivers claiming they were all Marquette parents with orange slices and Capri Sun?

    Can’t wait to read report!

I thought 200 was a conservative estimate. I was there and should be counted 15 times–each for one of my multiple personalities.

I was really surprised by the attendance and the enthusiasm. It was a good time.

    Nathan3e,
It was nice to meet you yesterday and lots and lots of other people that I ran into as well. You are correct. It was good weather in a nice setting and a surprisingly very positive vibe there yesterday, including a couple of guys from the Brazilian drum group that came to a couple of the Thunder games last season.

Yes, it was cool to finally meet you and some of the other people I knew only by board names. The drummers were good and some of the people there seemed to just wander in off the street, which is great. Having the scrimmage there was a good idea. Hopefully NSC can maintain this momentum.

Did the Stars play well? What was the score?

Thanks nathan3e. Nice (and quick) write up by the folks at NSC. I’d give NSC high marks on communicating with the public and their fans so far. Sometimes it’s those little things that go a long way.

That write up is surely the sign of an average front office that is going to run this team into the ground.

    /sarcasm

Interesting to see Takada not getting anytime with the first team. Who is Daniel Wasson? Played a full 90min. Anyone have info?

Sorry I haven’t gotten to write up but have actually been working on the site since this morning. All about stuff coming in the future.

Anyway, Takada hurt, Wasson was at the Sweetwater the other night and we were talking to him. Spent considerable time in Germany with a few teams and even got a few Budesliga minutes. Trialed with DC United this spring along with Two-Boys. I expect Wasson will be signed early this week. He’s very good and played outside defender but also spent time at midfield. I think he is more of a d-midfielder.

That is what I call service!

    Thanks, BQ!
