Whats This? A Nike Surprise

What’s this you ask? Well, that’s exactly what I was wondering myself.

Nike sent me a package that I received in a brown box from a company called Zero Halliburton. That sounded pretty sinister to me. However, the package contained nothing sinister whatsoever. In fact, it was the coolest package I think I’ve ever received. Click below to see what was inside.

In the box was a cool looking aluminum briefcase with the Nike swoosh and the US Soccer symbol etched into the top. Along with the attache case was a manila envelope with instructions.

The instructions told me that the Nike unveiling of the US home kit would be today in New York and later in the day I would be sent the combination to open my case. Talk about bringing back memories of Christmas Eve as a child.

Later in the day I did receive my email with the combination.

Opening the attache case revealed Nike’s new USA 2010 World Cup home kit. It was only later I realized that the case was pretty cool as well with compartments for pens, papers and whatever you’d like to keep in your briefcase.

What was even more shocking was underneath the home hit was a new US away kit. The case also contained a thumb drive with information about the kits themselves. (Please see my earlier article today.)

The Nike swoosh looks great on the new Nike Dri-Fit material that is made from recycled plastic pop bottles.

The US Soccer Crest

The genuine thing with an authentication number.

The away kit with the replica 1950′s sash. Note the air holes/vents running up the side of the jersey.

The crest on the away kit.

It was a good day!

Much deserved gift for your herculean efforts on behalf of the game we all love.

    Peace and futbol, my friend.

This is a pretty cool gift. Not only do you receive both jerseys nestled in “top secret” packaging, but the fact that the US Soccer acknowledges your soccer journalism. Overall a neat concept.

Also as a person that has only bought nike products relating directly to the USMNT, mostly because of their business practices. I am a huge fan of the new Nike Dri-Fit material, and that it is made from recycled plastic pop bottles.

Now that you have the kit, you just need to wait patiently for the call from Bob Bradley… :)

I realize that I’m kind of a nerd, but that was a really cool gift.
