IMS Names NSC Stars Player of The Month for April – Goalkeeper Joe Warren

by Brian Quarstad

The NSC Minnesota Stars played 5 games in April going 2-3-0.  Coach Manny Lagos is trying to get this new expansion team to gel. He has many young players on the roster with very few who have really stood out for the team so far.

Joe Warren

In April the Stars scored only 3 goals and they came from Daniel Wasson, Leilei Gao and Neil Hlavaty. Meanwhile Minnesota’s opponents scored 8 goals.

While the NSC team’s defense has leaked too many goals, 35-year old Joe Warren was unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight when starting keeper Louis Crayton went down just before the end of the first half of the Stars’ very first game in Vancouver against the Whitecaps. While there have been a few stoppable balls that have slipped by Warren, he has also come up with some very big saves to keep Minnesota in games when the defense was struggling.

Warren has also been the runaway favorite on the Player of the Game fan polls that it has conducted in April. Because of that, IMS is naming Joe Warren the NSC Stars Player of the Month.

Congratulations to Joe Warren, IMS PLAYER OF THE MONTH for APRIL.

Joe Warren spoke to NSC TV just last week concerning his return to pro soccer after a 4-year layoff.

Way to go Papa Joe! Not bad for a 35-year old. Keep up the great work! (The PK save on Saturday night was outstanding!)
