Rochester Thunder USOC Update
Josh Hakala of TheCup.US continues to keep us updated on the teams that are competing to qualify for the US Open Cup competition. Hakala once again brings us up to date for the Heartland Division and our own Rochester Thunder.
This division has come down to a two-team race involving familiar US Open Cup participant Des Moines Menace and the up-and-coming Rochester Thunder. Des Moines has finished their qualifying campaign with a 3-1 record, defeating Springfield, Kansas City, and St. Louis. Their one loss? A 1-0 defeat at home to Rochester, who is currently at 2-1. That win by the Thunder becomes very important, as they now hold the tiebreaker between the two teams. Rochester’s last game is at home against the Kansas City Brass on Sunday, May 30. With a win, the Thunder make their first ever trip to the US Open Cup. Any other result would result in the slot going to the Menace, who look to make the tournament for the fifth time, but the first since 2006.

I have a suspicion that the Stars will be playing whichever of the two makes it.
