US Men’s National Team Meets the President
The US Men’s National Team took a trip to the White House on Thursday to meet up with President Obama, Vice President Biden and former President Bill Clinton. The players got a brief send-off pep talk by the president and a few were able to shake his hand. Bob Bradley seemed unusually smiley when the President told the team, “We’re going to be proud of what you do when you get to South Africa, and you will have somebody in the Oval Office who’s going to be watching ESPN to make sure that things are going OK.”
“I had been there once before with the Olympic team. This time around, it was pretty awesome,” said Tim Howard.
After the PR op, the team traveled to Philadelphia’s NovaCare Complex, which is owned by the Philadelphia Eagles, and trained in preparation for the last US friendly against Turkey at Lincoln Financial Field. 48,000 tickets have been sold for that game. The team will them leave for South Africa on Sunday.
