Kelsey Hood, Ankeny, Iowa native and former 2008 Big Ten Defensive MVP and assistant coach at the U of M this past season is fulfilling a life dream by playing professionally in Europe. Gopher Sports.com is reporting that Hood is playing for FK Donn in the Toppserien which is the premier league for women in Norway and reportedly one of the top 5 women’s leagues in the world.

“Kelsey is a dream player for a coach who always brings on her best by a good attitude, hating to lose, and eager to get the team to a higher level,” said Tommy Egeli – FK Donn Head Coach. ” She plays alone as a central midfielder in a 4-5-1 formation and has been a well-known and respected player for the other teams in the top division.”

I am living a childhood dream and I couldn’t be any more happy! I hope to be playing abroad for many years to come!

Hood, who was a defender with the Gophers, arrived in Kristiansand, Norway in January for preseason training. Even though the team was picked to finish last they have earned points against the two league favorites which have many established Norwegian full national team players. The team is now 4-5-2.

“Donn is a new team in the top division and we are not expected to stay alive in the top league for more than this year,” said Hood from Norway. “I am confident that I have developed the leadership skills and performance skills it will take to help keep this team in the top league. It will not be easy and every game is a war, but I take pride in being apart of a team that is laying the foundation for generations to come.”
