The Minnesota Kings defeated the Eau Claire Aris FC Saturday afternoon in a fast-paced match at Bollinger Field in Eau Claire by the score of 11-4.

The first half of the match was dominated by physical midfield play resulting in five yellow card cautions and two penalty kicks.

The Kings opened the scoring barrage in the third minute after a Kings player was brought down in the penalty box, and then converted on the kick.  The Aris FC answered back with their first goal of the evening several minutes later on a penalty kick.

The first half of play continued with goals and little defense.  Each team tallied 3 more goals going  into the half.

As the whistle blew for the second half and both team knotted up at four goals apiece, the Kings took control of the match and scored seven additional goals.  Most of the goals were the result of the Kings winning balls in the mid-field and quickly counter-attacking against a weak Aris FC backline.

“The scoreboard reflects a game we played well in,” said Kings GK Tim Haselberger.  Haselberger continued, “We outplayed them today.”  These comments were echoed by Kings head coach Joseph Petrusa.  “We were short on the bench,” Petrusa said.  “At half-time we asked the guys to dig deep, and we moved the ball nicely.”

With the win, the Kings move to a record of six wins and four losses.  They will play in Chicago against the Chicago Fire on June 27.
