PepeJon Chavez Resigns from Bethel University Soccer Program
It was announced on Monday, June 28 by the Bethel University’s Athletic Department that PepeJon Chavez has resigned his position as both head men’s and women’s soccer coach at the college.
Chavez, or PepeJon as he is known in the Minnesota soccer community, was credited for working to turn Bethel’s soccer programs into competitors in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). Chavez was instrumental in turning both men’s and women’s programs around in a short amount of time. Last year, he helped the women’s program achieve its best record in school history and steps down as the head coach with the most wins in the 17-year history of the women’s program at 28-20-6. He also helped the men’s team post a winning season, both overall and in conference play, for the first time since 2004.
The timing of the resignation is a bit odd with just a few days more than a month before college athletes will report to preseason training at their colleges. IMS has learned that PepeJon resigned his position for family reasons.
