Eight Teams and Four Games; 2010 World Cup Quarter Finals Set

by Brian Quarstad

The 2010 World Cup Quarter Finals are set. The curse of European teams struggling when not playing in their own continent seems to be holding true again, while South American teams are doing well. However, there are still 3 European teams left with Germany and Spain both looking strong. One African team (Ghana) makes it into the final eight. But four South American teams head for the quarterfinals: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Of the four games on Friday and Saturday the Netherlands v Brazil matchup, along with Argentina v Germany, look to be the most compelling.

Here’s your TV viewing schedule:

Friday, July 2 @ 9:00 am CT  -  Netherlands vs Brazil

Friday, July 2 @ 1:00 pm CT  -  Uruguay vs Ghana

Saturday, July 3 @ 9:00 am CT  -  Argentina vs Germany

Saturday, July 3 @ 1:00 pm CT  -  Paraguay vs Spain

So where will you be watching the quarterfinals? So far I’ve been to: Sweetwater, Nomad, Brits, Kegans, Kierans, O’ Donovans, Coffee News, Midtown Global Market, Blue Nile, and Glockenspiel. I’ve had a blast traveling around watching games, meeting new people and running into old friends.

I am sticking with the Sweety for World Cup action. I just hope I make it until 7/2. I have no idea what to do with myself as there are no matches today.
