This Must Be The Place; MLS Cup 2010 Toronto
This must be the place! MLS Cup 2010 symbols on walkways, doors, windows and even steps greet visitors to the Intercontinental Toronto Centre which hosts this weekend's activities.
After a long travel day, this reporter finally got into Toronto late Friday afternoon. After dinner and some rest time it was on to The Social, a club along Queen Street which is a seemingly never-ending avenue of restaurants, shops, art galleries and trendy clubs. The Social was also the place to be on Friday night if you were a soccer geek like me and many of my friends.
The Designated Players, guys from Soccer By Ives, The Original Winger, This is American Soccer, DuNord and The Offside Rules, threw their second annual MLS Cup party at The Social. And what a party it was. Pretty much a who’s who of soccer writers, players (past and present), MLS and team personnel and anyone who just wanted to hang out and talk soccer. A good time was had by all as players like Jimmy Conrad, Dwayne De Rosario and Edson Buddle were in attendance with Bruce McGuire of duNord Futbol, Ives Galarcep of SBI, Grant Wahl, Greg and Alexi Lalas and I could go on and on.
My night was finished up with a trip to a 24-hour diner in the heart of the city and near the Time Square of Toronto.
Today’s agenda will be see me participating in a “Bloggers’ Roundtable” which will be attended by MLS Commissioner Don Garber and tomorrow before the game will be the Supporters Summit.
Toronto is a very lovely city and a great host.
