Carleton’s Borkowski Makes 1st Team D III All-American, Concordia’s Johnson 3rd Team

Carleton College senior defender Leigh-Anne Borkowski was named to the NSCAA’s All-American 1st team for the 2010 season. Borkowski, a Elverta, Calif. native earned the honor by helping her team to the top spot in the MIAC Conference with a 9-1-1 conference record and a 15-3-2 overall record. She started every game for the Knights and scored 5 goals, had 2 assists and accumulated 12 points.
Concordia College-Moorhead’s senior forward Sam Johnson also was named as a D III All-American (3rd team) for the second consecutive season. She was also a four-time All-Region and All-Conference honoree. Johnson was also an ESPN Academic All-American in 2009 and was a two-time ESPN Academic All-District award winner.

Johnson finished 2010 with 13 goals and six assists for 32 total points. It was the second straight season she has collected at least 30 points. Johnson had at least one point in 12 of the team’s 21 games this season and had at least two points on 11 occasions.
In her four seasons at Concordia, Johnson played in 80 games and finished with 53 goals and 20 assists for 126 points. She was only the fifth player in program history to surpass the 100-point mark in a career. Her 53 goals are second-most in school history and her point total is the third highest among any player who has ever played at Concordia. Johnson also finished with 20 game-winning goals.
The players will be honored at the annual All-America Luncheon, to be held at the Hilton Baltimore Hotel on Saturday, Jan. 15, as part of the 2011 NSCAA Convention.
