Catching Up With Former Minnesota Thunder Player Freddy Juarez

Freddy Juarez played for the El Paso Patriots from 1998-2003 and the moved up to the Minnesota Thunder and played there from 2004-2007. In those 3 years Freddy because a fan favorite as ball winner playing the defensive midfield spot. In 2005 he helped the team make a deep run into Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
These days the Las Cruces, New Mexico native can be found living in Casa Grande, Arizona where he is an assistant coach to the U-16 Real Salt Lake Academy team. Real Salt Lake is the only MLS team to have a true residential academy where players live on campus of the Grande Sports Complex. Juarez is the resident assistant which means he’s more or less the acting parent for the players while they live on campus.
Juarez talks about his time with the Thunder and what has happened since then and how he has found himself at the Real Salt Lake Academy. He explains why he feels he can do more good there than coaching in his home town of Las Cruces and talks about the fantastic facility of Grande Sports Complex where the academy is located.
