Professional film maker Damian Petrou and his company named Brave New Media came to coach Manny Lagos this preseason and offered their services to the Stars. Petrou, who loves the game of soccer, hopes to document the team throughout the season and offer his creative services in the way of creating these films.

Here is the first of their works, a piece on the first week of training camp for the NSC Minnesota Stars.

Coach Lagos did an outstanding job assembling a strong team last year. Time will tell if he has worked his magic again with the 2011 edition of the Stars. I would give the Stars high marks for marketing the team and I note they have filled up a number of “club nights” and the season has not kicked off. Only 32 more days until the home opener at the Nessy. I am pumped. Come on you Stars!

What, no artistic sepia filter this time? You’re slipping, BQ. In all seriousness it’s a very well-done video.

Coach Lagos is definitely a rising star on the US scene. You’re fortunate to have him. Hopefully the team will come together a little faster than last year.

I love interviewing assistant coach Carl Craig. He gives you fantastic quotes.

“Let’s be fair! We only do that stuff throughout the week week for this,” Craig says with a wry smile as he sweeps his hand across the field as the Stars play in their second scrimmage of the season. “It’s no secret. We play football for this. It’s not to go get fit. It’s not to be best mates. It’s to get on the field and play football matches.”

I really do like Carl Craig and love his quotes. Somehow his passion for the game always seems to shine though on his quotes. He’s a nice compliment to Lagos’ more serious side.

Also, Carl doesn’t use “at the end of the day” like a verbalized semicolon.
