Atlanta Silverbacks Preseason Training Highlight Videos

2011 April 4
by Brian Quarstad

The NSC Minnesota Stars aren’t the only ones getting into the action of documenting their team’s preseason preparation for the season via video. It looks as if the Atlanta Silverbacks are also getting into the action.

Here is part 1 of a 4-part video series looking at the preparations the Silverbacks are taking to ready themselves for the upcoming NASL season. Coaching staff and players of the Silverbacks speak about the team who are now back in division II soccer after a 2-year hiatus.

The Silverbacks host (ironically) the Minnesota Stars next Saturday, April 9th at Silverbacks Stadium in Atlanta to open the NASL season.

You can check out all four videos here.

I’m really glad to see this, not because it gives us an idea of their team, but because it indicates that the club will have the capabilities to produce the video feed on Saturday night. We’ll plan on a watch party at the Sweety for the season opener.

I disagree, Neal. Just like the NSC Stars documentary, it means an independent film maker Sheldon Bradley has taken an interest and is putting these together. Not sure if the Silverbacks are responsible for this or not. But I don’t think the two are much related whatsoever. The documentaries done for the NSC this year have nothing to do with the live streaming which will be done by the same NSC crew who did the live streaming last year.

Speaking of Live Streaming, has anyone heard anything about it from any of the NASL teams? Games start in 5 days and I figured there wouldve been some word by now…

Grant, the word has not been official but has been discussed quite a bit in the comments of this site. We have been told there will be live streaming. However, I’m not sure it’s going to be ready for the first set of games.

    Thanks, Brian!

Ive been scouring the sites of each team, and dont see too much. I was hoping that there would be some official word this week. Im glad that the first two FCTB games are at home, but feel bad for those of you who dont have that same luxury. Based on several of the teams who had it last year, I would only really question the readiness of Edmonton and Atlanta, but also realize that it cant be looked at that way.

    Fingers crossed!

I recieved confirmation today that Atlanta is planning on webcasting the opener. They are testing their equipment today. NASL presser should not be far behind.
Watch Party at the Sweety for all games.
Season Opener will be at 6:30 Central time (verified with NASL and ATL websites). Join us at the Sweety in support of our Stars. Free Parking, 2 for 1 domestic and import taps, and pizza by Heggies (of Milaca).

Well, I hope that works out Neal. I am not so trusting that it will all come off without a hitch. I know the league has yet to announce anything officially. Atlanta maybe testing the equipment today but as of now there is no site like USL Live has set up where you can go to watch the games.

I know the new Commish said that that live streaming would be one of his top priorities, but he also said he can’t guarantee right away because when he did that interview it was before he even got into the office.

But here’s hopefully to a successful start of the season.

Yes, Brian, I am a trusting individual as you know. And it has sometimes come back to BITE ME. In this case, I certainly hope not, for we’ve all been looking forward to the return of our local pro game for the long and frigid off season.

Watch parties have been quite entertaining, as we are often providing our own commentary in a humorous manner such as Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K).

If the NASL can’t get the deal sorted by Saturday, I would propose that we (the Stars supporters) take a collection and help the Atlanta front office use TEAMLINE as provider for a one off webcast. They have the equipment, just need to sort out the league host.

I’m disappointed that the NASL was unable to come to press before the USL on the webcasting front (not that everything needs to be a competition between NASL and USL, but it’s kind of fun that way).

    Peace and futbol.
