Thanks for posting the highlights package. Thanks Atlanta for putting them online.
Given the color guy on the broadcast, I really expected these highlights to not include either Stars goal.
Nice finishes on the opening goals for both teams, but a tough break for Atlanta on the game winner. The Stars looked to be moving the ball pretty well though (based on this limited sample). I’m very excited for the rest of the season.
Takada’s goal was supurb. Great movement breaking into the box late, good control, and a nice finish.
2nd goal: CB (#5) should have done better but easily sorted out. No worries there. In all honesty, if the left winger was wearing longer studs he would have likely kept the ball and the situation never arises.
Awful GKing on the game-winning FK from Gostmanov. Although the ball had a very rapid decent…partially technique but i’m interested in what ball they are using. Similar flight pattern to the Jabulani. Is it the Adidas Speed-Cell?
GO ON STARS!
Actually, HH, it’s this ball, which will be the league ball until July 4th, when the “official” Joma NASL ball debuts:

Standard Buckyball construction with a paint job. No special texturing on the surface or anything.
My guess is that he just lost his sense of position in relation to the goal and thought it was heading past the outside of the far post.
From this angle you can see much better a blind pass from “Super Mario” Pérez

“Super Mario” was the best player, hands down.
No, they were just using Joma balls that we use when we play out at the park for our rec leagues. My friends and I noted that during the game that it didn’t seem like the league provided them with balls, and the Silverbacks’ jersey sponsor (Saeta) doesn’t make high-performance balls.
I think the Stars kit looks great this year. I can’t wait to get mine!
Chris, check the photos from every NASL match played on Saturday. It would be pretty coincidental for EVERY city to be using the same Joma ball as their rec league ball.

Notice any simularities in the balls used?
And, finally, read the third paragraph from this story (under subheading “First Half”):

Joma is providing the same ball to every team in the league for game use.
Anyone hear why the womens soccer caoch from Saint Mary’s just stepped down? I heard a couple possible scenarios, but it just seems strange. NSC Stars a possible spot for him to be an asst?
Thought that was a nice video highlights and thought the quality was pretty good for this level
The first goal for the Stars was very nice, excellent composure and finish. The 2nd goal has to be considered a major keeper error. Someone is paying that guy money to catch butterflies.
