FC Tampa Bay Goalkeeper Daryl Sattler Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Goalkeeper Daryl Sattler out for the season
Both FC Tampa Bay goalkeeper Daryl Sattler and his club received some very bad news with the revelation that he has a torn ACL in his right knee. He will now be forced to miss the remainder of this season.
Given the fact that Sattler was considered by many to be an integral part of the squad, his loss looms very large for the Central Floridian side. He is currently considered one of the division’s better goalkeepers.
Tampa Bay hosted the Atlanta Silverbacks on Saturday night. Sattler was injured in the 10th minute during a collision with a Silverbacks player. Match reports available at this time do not identify the Silverbacks player by name, but based on a review of the video footage, it appears the player involved was most likely defender/midfielder Kohei Matsushita.
After going down to the turf, it was immediately clear that Sattler would be unable to continue the match. He was replaced by rookie Jeff Attinella.
“My thoughts are with Daryl and we are all very disappointed for him,” said head coach Ricky Hill. “I have only known Daryl for a short time, but I know he is a first class person as well as an outstanding goalkeeper. We will miss him and hope that he makes a speedy recovery.”
Hill must now decide whether to proceed with Attinella as his starting goalkeeper or bring in a veteran with more experience. Attinella is a young player and this is his first season as a professional. The coach might reach the conclusion that it would be a mistake for both the club and the player to put him under too much pressure this early in his career.
Either way, it is very clear that the club is the market to add another goalkeeper.
Coming into this season, FC Tampa Bay had very high expectations and considered itself to be a legitimate contender for the league crown.
Prior to his injury, Sattler was in very fine form. He had two clean sheets in his four starts. His outstanding performances garnered him a nomination for the April NASL “Player of the Month.” He was also selected the league’s “Defender of the Week” after one of the matches with Montreal.
FC Tampa Bay currently sits in the middle of the NASL table with five points (along with the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers and NSC Minnesota Stars.)

I truly feel for Daryl because he’s a great guy, but I can’t even focus because this story is so full of grammatical errors. Editors?

All- I think the position is Jeff’s to lose. He is from the Tampa area and provides a nice connection to the local population. My guess is the Rowdies mine deep for a decent backup, but don’t break the bank to get one.
@Mike: Thanks for the feedback.
While it is absolutely not an accceptable excuse for a substandard submission: my employer has me working under a very tight project deadline today.
This was breaking news.
Given the importance of the Stattler injury, I admit that I rushed trying to get it up on the website today.
I look forward to reviewing it further a little later and trying to “clean it up” a bit so that it is more in line with the high standards that IMS readers have come to expect.
Hopefully it will look a little better later today.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
Bad news for FCTB.
When the headline came up in my headline, the first thought that came into my mind was not that the team had lost him for the season, but that he had become lost (e.g. in the woods). So I guess criticizing the copy editing would be a little silly for my own part.
ACL injuries are tough, but recovery seems much more likely that in the past. I hope that Sattler has a healthy recovery and comes back strong next season. And then gives up lots of goals to the Stars.
Editing issues sometimes happen, especially when the editor is busy volunteering elsewhere…
thesuperrookie could always play GK for the Rowdies. However, after having scored on him multiple times, I would not recommend it.
@Mike: Hopefully this revision is a bit easier to read.
Thanks again for your patience and the feedback.
