FC Edmonton’s Lemire & Baart Get 1 Game Suspension
FC Edmonton’s Edmonton’s forward Chris Lemire and goalkeeper Rein Baart will both serve a one-game suspension for red cards they received on Sunday evening in a game against the Montreal Impact. There was question that the two may have received a stiffer penalty after Steven Sandor of The11.ca reported in his segment of the IMS NASL Podcast that the two were under further investigation by the NASL Disciplinary Committee for their red cards.

The NASL Disciplinary Committee decided Rein Baart will serve a single game suspension.
Baart collided with Montreal Impact player Luke Kreamalmeyer in Sunday’s game with a studs up challenge. Sandor reported the challenge left Kreamalmeyer banged up.
“I saw Kreamalmeyer after the game and he had a pretty good series of welts and rakes across his chest from the cleats,” said Sandor.
Lemire then challenged the referee’s decision to red card Baart, earning him a quick trip to the locker room as well and leaving his team with only 9 players.
After further review, the NASL Disciplinary Committee, made up of Commissioner David Downs, Operations Director Darren McCartney and Director of Business Development and Legal Affairs Rishi Sehgal, decided the one game suspension was sufficient.
FC Edmonton leads the league with 3 red cards accumulated in the first month of action.
According to Sandor, Baart and Lemire will serve their one game suspensions this Saturday in Atlanta against the Silverbacks.
