Minnesota Stars Take on Ft. Lauderdale Strikers Tonight at the NSC
The NSC Minnesota Stars will take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers tonight in Blaine, Minn., at the National Sports Center Stadium. Time of the kickoff is 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be the second of four meetings between the clubs this season. The Stars battled the Strikers to a 1-1 draw in the second week of the season in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Both teams have identical records of 1 win, 2 draws and 1 loss and are tied for 4th place in the NASL with 5 points. However, the Strikers have a 0 goal differential while the Stars are -1.
The Stars are coming off arguably their best game of the season in a 1-1 draw with the visiting Carolina RailHawks. The forward pairing of Simone Bracalello and Tino Nunez for Minnesota created plenty of chances but the team struggled with their finishing. Minnesota out-shot Carolina 14-5.
Fort Lauderdale played away at Puerto Rico a week ago Friday evening. The Strikers game also ended in a draw and one point after a 2-2 draw that saw the Strikers give up a late goal.
“Our finishing wasn’t there in the first half, and on another night we could have gone into halftime up by two or three goals. Our buildup play was strong, our transition from defense into attack was quick, and all 11 guys out there played with the extra energy that being at home can give you,” Lagos said. “That’s what we’re looking for, and the challenge for us is to bring that intensity to every game.”
Tickets for tonight’s game will be available at the ticket booth and tailgating is available. The Dark Clouds supporters group will have a grill available to everyone in front of the exhibition field at the NSC.

@BQ – You guys stole two points from us! Aargh! Plus I couldn’t watch but the last 15 minutes due to technical difficulties there at the stadium. It was almost as if you guys waited til the end to turn on the feed and then kick us in the head and take two of our points! LOL
Great game! Anytime an opponent can take away a win or score from the Strikers is a good day for D2 soccer.
It made my wife’s Mothers Day!!
Oh how thy sarcasm dripith from thine keyboard.
